The ability to foresee the unexpected is not available to us. We may not know where a path might lead. We might find ourselves straining to see what’s ahead, as if by looking harder we might catch a glimpse of the unknown. The unexpected becomes the focal point. The eyes are drawn to the inscrutable. What is obscure is often associated with darkness, yet in these photographs the unknown is full of light.
Maybe the unforeseen is encouraging us to recalibrate our course using our inner compass and our immediate surroundings. Maybe it is a reminder that the urge to see beyond is at the mercy of the unpredictable, as if the world around us is redirecting our focal point to the here and now.
Unmapped territory can be frightening. It is mysterious. Yet, there is a nudge. Others are crossing that bridge, taking that path and venturing into the unknown. What is fascinating about this ghostly white veil is that more is revealed as we move forward, but only to the extent that we move forward. If we stop, the white wall stops with us. The only way to find out is to cross that bridge, trusting that by moving forward things will be revealed.
